Happy Hot Dog Day

Today is the day when Americans celebrate the annual hot dog eating competition that is held on Coney Island in Brooklyn every 4th of July.  This historic event truly epitomizes the spirit of America.  Every 4th of July, Americans take the day off to watch this competition on ESPN and to attend parades and fireworks all across the country celebrating this event.  And who can blame them?  Watching people stuff hot dogs into their mouths must truly make one feel proud to be an American.

Oh, and I almost forgot, today is also the day that commemorates the declaration of independence of the United States from Great Britain.  But, it is easy to forget the real reason behind all of the festivities.  Isn't it, CNN?
